Have we ever spent time working on a project to no avail? Fishing but not catching anything? Taking a whole night pressing through with no results? It’s in those times the Lord will give us a direction we may think makes no sense and has nothing to do with what we were trying to accomplish, but afterwards we will realize it was connected to success.

The Lord got into Peter’s boat and asked him to move out a little from the land. There Jesus taught the multitude. The boat that was supposed to be used to hold fishes was used for the Lord. When Jesus finished teaching, He told Peter to launch out into the deep and let his nets down for a catch. When we give priority to the Word of God in our lives, allow Him to use our lives as He wills and obey His directives; we can expect fruitfulness.

What wasn’t successful before will be. Situations are turned around and all things work together for the good when the Lord is Lord of all. Peter only let down one net even though Jesus told him to let down the nets, plural. Unknowingly, he was learning obedience and being trained to be a fisher of men. What is it the Lord is asking of us today that He will use in our tomorrow for something we don’t expect?

In the midst of failure, weaknesses and trial upon trial, the Lord prepares us for so much greater than we can ask or think. All He asks of us, He uses for His good, from glory to glory!

Luke 5:3-4 Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
