Do we ever find something is getting old? Does the familiar become so expected we lose excitement? How can we keep walking in newness of life?
When we take the same way to a lake, home or any destination, after a while we lose the amazement. No longer are we noticing the beautiful trees, the flowers, the way the sun shines on specific areas, or how the streets look. We get accustomed to it and the surroundings that we used to enjoy so much become unseen. It is also that way with people. In a relationship, the way a mate used to look may no longer be noticed. A friend’s qualities we were recognizing, we are now ignoring. A job was so exciting when we were looking for it but now a sense of boredom has settled in.
I recall the Lord leading me to sleep on the other side of my bed. It took me by surprise because I was so accustomed to it. I obeyed and realized it felt great, new. He was teaching me through a small example how to keep things fresh in my life. As we acknowledge Him in all our ways, He will, at times, tell us to do things a different way to bring freshness in our lives. He may not always bring new things but He does make all things new. Let us take heed to His guidance, from glory to glory!
2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
