The indwelling presence and power of the Spirit of God in our hearts is our guarantee of our new birth in Christ, even when we go through fleshy things in our humanity. When we are confident of His indwelling, it helps us stand and trust our breakthroughs will manifest.
It may be difficult to believe that the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in us when our flesh reacts to the circumstances we face. Thoughts of guilt and condemnation may try to attack us, but the Spirit within us rises up and overcomes our human frailty. Our faith works and when we are our weakest, His power increases in amazing ways. We know we belong to Him because of our awareness of His Spirit indwelling us, and even when we feel unworthy of His presence, we realize He remains. He breaks forth and not only enables us to break through; He touches those around us so they too encounter the reality of the risen Lord.
When our flesh gets in the way, let’s remember it is not the flesh that defines us, but the Spirit because the Spirit of God dwells in us. We walk in the Spirit as vessels surrendered to His indwelling. There is power in walking in who we are in Christ, by faith, shaking the dust off our feet and rejoicing and praising God for His indwelling power, from glory to glory!
Romans 8:9-11 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
