As God brings healing to our souls, He frees us to be ourselves. He shows us how much we are loved and accepted just the way we are. God doesn’t require us to change for Him to receive us. It’s this acceptance of unconditional love that transforms us. This freedom to be enables us to do whatever God calls us to achieve. To be free to be is significant.
When searching for unconditional love, people often put on masks because they fear not being accepted for who they are. Masks are worn so they will be seen in a certain way, often based on what they assume others are expecting. The masks they hide behind may be material possessions, fictional backgrounds, name-dropping, education and/or experiences, mates, children, a profession or any other fabrication to avoid detection. Masks are laid down as the new creation in Christ Jesus is liberated.
The anointing of God brings freedom to the captives. We walk free from other people’s approval, acceptance and affirmation; free from past mistakes; free from fear of our future; free from guilt, shame, abandonment and rejection; free from sin, death and the devil. Knowing the truth about who we are in Christ sets us free from who we used to be. We are free to love God and others. We are free to be, from glory to glory!
John 8:31-32 “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.’ ”
