Can our lack of faith get in the way of God’s sovereign plan? Is our faith in the faith we are able to muster up, or in God? As the author and finisher of our faith, is Jesus able to meet our needs? When it seems as though the promises of God are delayed and our faith for them diminishes, do we still stand by faith in God?
Zacharias, a priest, performed his duties religiously. He served God faithfully. However, when it came time to believe the news the angel Gabriel spoke to him, his faith in the God he served turned out to be lacking?. He was told he would be a father even though he and his wife were both well advanced in years. Because of his unbelief, he became mute and unable to speak until the birth of his child. Nevertheless, it did not stop God’s purpose.
As a child of God, we believe, therefore we speak. Unbelief quenches our witnessing. It hinders our testimony and silences the powerful words of life we can speak, in Jesus name. On the other hand, when necessary, God knows how to keep unbelievers quiet and bring forth His divine plan, from glory to glory!
Luke 1:20 But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time.”
