What should we do for God? Are we doing enough? Jesus told the disciples to simply believe in Him. Believe that God is able to lead us to what He wants us to do. Our primary purpose is to be. We rest in Him and obey as He leads.
Works that are done outwardly without an inward faith are dead works. All works of the believer must be of God and through God. We co-labor with Him. To cease from our own works is a work of faith. We trust, depend, and wait on Him. We serve Him out of our love for Him, not by obligation or as a religious exercise. It is by faith and with faith.
We do not possess this kind of faith naturally; it’s given by God. Through the Word, prayer and fellowship with our Lord, we receive the faith that only comes through Him. He is the author and finisher of our faith. We receive the assurance that God will do the work with and through us. Our work is to believe in Christ. Only believe. We rest from laboring with our natural strength, and wait on His supernatural strength, from glory to glory!
John 6:28-29 “Then they said to Him, ‘What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?’ Jesus answered and said to them, ‘This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.’”
