We put on the whole armor of God; once we do, we never take it off. We remind ourselves that we are clothed with armor when circumstances cause us to doubt. If we believe and receive one part and not another, we are vulnerable.
We have the defensive parts of the armor: the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, shoes for the preparation of the gospel of peace, and the shield of faith. With them we are protected and completely covered. In addition, we have an offense in our armor: the Sword of the Spirit, and the Word of God. With it we declare and decree what has been written. We are clothed with the armor of God. We are dressed to destroy every adversary in the name of Jesus. When we are in a battle we need to know the weapons we have in order to use them effectively.
How do we put on the armor of God? By faith we receive Him. The armor is comprised of what is already ours in Christ Jesus, our Lord. We put on Christ through the appropriation of what He has made available for us. It is the armor of God, His! We are dressed for battle and able to resist and destroy every evil work, from glory to glory!
Ephesians 6:12-13 “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
