We shouldn’t remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. How challenging! The word remember means to recall it as if to make it active. The old helped us to be where we are today but cannot dictate our present way of doing things.
We acknowledge the negative we shouldn’t recall, but not the positive. It is the past successes we must remember and appreciate. What worked one way then will not work the same way now. This is true in relationships as well. We relate to everyone celebrating their uniqueness. When making choices, we need to take captive old mind sets and welcome the thoughts the mind of Christ has for us.
Fear of the unknown can hinder productivity and growth and keep us in the past. Discouragement because of past failures freezes our steps. As we yield to Him, God continues the healing process and brings new life in all He does in and through us. It is a new day in the Lord! We let go of the old and welcome the new God has for us. He leads us by His grace, from glory to glory!
Isaiah 43:18 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.”
