When we commit things to the Lord, we roll them off our shoulders and into His hands. This rolling of our works unto God is wonderfully visualized as we picture a camel burdened with a heavy load. To remove the load, the camel kneels down, tilts far to one side and the burden rolls off. Isn’t that what we do in prayer?

In our hearts, we kneel and lean towards Him–loving and trusting His care. As we do, all is surrendered into His hands. When all has been rolled over unto Him, by faith and in prayer, we rest and our thoughts are settled. We experience His peace. We no longer lean on our own understanding. We patiently wait for His instructions, knowing that He will help us with what we have entrusted to Him. We are more apt to make this commitment with things that are worrisome or troubling, but even what feels right has to be given into His care. We deliver our all into our Lord’s safekeeping.

God is willing, able and faithful. He cares for us and desires to lead us into His best. This rolling over is one way we take thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ. When we do, confusion dissipates instantly. Whatever is burdensome becomes light, from glory to glory!

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established.”
