Forgiving someone is not always easy. To forgive the same person seven times, or even seventy times seven, is truly supernatural. It can only be done through the grace and power of God, again and again.
Even though a person repents, and we forgive them, they can still sin against us immediately after reconciliation. In each instance, our trust in that person’s change may diminish because of the continued conflict. Our prayers for them may not be as fervent as they were initially. We may hesitate to believe that whatever has happened will not happen again. It’s when an offense occurs again and again that forgiveness is the most challenging and we reach for the enabling of the Lord. This is true whether it is for others or us.
There are areas where instant freedom is attained, but there are other areas where we may go through repentance many times before the complete change is in place. This walk in grace and forgiveness are different for each one of us. One thing is the same: we never stop believing that our God is able. We can go to Him again and again without ceasing and release all into His hands, from glory to glory!
Luke 17:3-4 “Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”
